In the old days of KAZA it would work to your advantage by sharing more files, giving you faster downloads.
Is there any system similar to this with Torrents?

That means that there are currently 166 seeders but you are connected to 0 of them. Presumably because you've already finished the download.

Go over 1:1 if it's an invitation only site.
For public torrents you can quit whenever but bailing below 1:1 makes you a bit of a git.

Minimum of 1 really.
If it's a rare one with only a few seeders I'll generally just leave it on there for a while.
